Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

Oh my gosh Writing, I had the same idea you did but I swear I'm not trying to copy!

But yes, I do have a villain laid out as well. You might like him. Idk.

Here's his first theme. It's instrumental, but matches his personality (and maybe goals).

Here's his second.

Believe me, it matches. I might as well go the Writing way and highlight the lyrics that matter.

Spoiler:
Here we are bending feet
In the dark before dreamless sleep
Cloaks that spot, that shiver, that breeze
Throws you in the dark

Happiness, it won't last long
And this child behind stores it all
The failed man's curse
And the cost of nonchalance

I thank you sly, watchful gene
A plastic life up my sleeve

If you've followed this far
You've realized nothing

Now your world is here
Watch it disappear

Abacus haunting me
Abacus watching me
Abacus haunting me
Abacus watching me

And it all plays out
And it always comes around
The message fades but the mess prevails
You reckless thing leaving you in our hands

Abacus haunting me
Abacus watching me
Abacus haunting me
Abacus watching me

All we have is this chance called memory
(Haunting me)
All we have is this chance called memory
(Watching me)
All we have is this chance called memory
(Haunting me)
All we have is this chance called memory

Re: Infinity's Row: Character themes!

Post by Athena Lionheart on Mon Oct 27, 2014 11:01 am

Lyrics:
No matter how many times that you told me you wanted to leave
No matter how many breaths that you took, you still couldn't breathe
No matter how many nights that you lie wide awake to the sound of poison rain
Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go?
As days go by, the night's on fire

Tell me would you kill to save a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?
Crash, crash, burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground

This first part would be her brother talking to her, asking if she's sure of her choices and if she even knows what those choices are. Is she prepared to kill? Does she really know what that means?

No matter how many deaths that I die I will never forget
No matter how many lives that I live, I will never regret
There is a fire inside of this heart
And a riot about to explode into flames
Where is your God? Where is your God? Where is your God?

Here, it's Elyse talking to her brother. She doesn't have her answers, but she's not going back on her decision. She then asks him where his precious God is, with all the madness and cruelty she now gets to see face-to-face.

Ooooooo-ooohhh Ooooooo-ooohhh

Do you really want...
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead,
Or alive to torture for my sins?

Do you really want...
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead,
Or alive to live a lie?

I'll leave this one up for your own interpretation for now, though the 'Do you really want me dead, or alive to live a lie?' is pretty straightforward.

Tell me would you kill to save a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?
Crash, crash, burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground

Her brother's words repeated.

The promises we made were not enough (Never play the game again)
The prayers that we have prayed were like a drug (Never gonna hit the air)
The secrets that we sold were never known (Never sing a song for you)
The love we had, the love we had, we had to let it go.
(Never giving in again, Never giving in again)

This is basically them just talking to each other honestly. They made promises as children that didn't end up stopping anything. Marcus, who was a strong believer that there is a God, prayed with her every night to try and make things better. When Elyse ran away, she let go of her love for her only true family member.

Tell me would you kill to save a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?
Crash, crash, burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground

Marcus again.

Whoa, This hurricane [x3]

Whoa
Do you really want...
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead,
Or alive to torture for my sins?

Do you really want...
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead,
Or alive to live a lie?

Elyse cries out one last time, but never gives or receives an answer.

Instrumental

Re: Infinity's Row: Character themes!

Fe's theme -- took me awhile to find one that REALLY suited her.

lyric analysis:
Can you find it in your heart, to forgive her?
Can you stop and see there's part of her that's trying to obey,
while part of her is dying to run away?
Can't you hear what she's trying to say?

I feel like this song is primarily Fe's mother (who's deceased) deperately trying to convey a message to Arker. As everyone knows or can gather, he's a very unforgiving and cold soul. Though she does nothing wrong, Fe is always reprimanded and ridiculed and beaten. She was raised fighting the feeling of wanting to obey her father, but also to become her own person. Eventually, one feeling overtakes her completely, and she loses herself within her decision.

Can you find it in your soul, to accept her?
If she stumbles on your holy path, do you have to reprimand?
Or are there ways to make her understand,
Without using the back of your hand?

Being around one person for her entire life really affected Fe -- especially since he was wretched, evil, and heartless. Because her experiences were limited to such awful things, she knows nothing better than to treat people the same way. She's known nothing but hurt, and the way she deals with it is inflicting the same on others. This was especially difficult, since she was such a good heart to begin with.

Can't you remember, when we were that age?
Pumped up with promise and wrestling with rage?
Can't you remember, when we were a family back when?
Could we be one again?

Again, this is where the unheard message concept comes in. Fe's mother is saying what Fe is thinking - maybe, long ago, Arker loved. Maybe they were an actual family. Maybe there was love. Maybe Arker struggled with the same sort of life, and therefore he should know how heart-wrenching it is to know that nobody in the world gives a damn about you. Their lives were all one big "what if?"

Does it ever cross you mind that I miss you?
Is there any chance we'll find the joy that we shared at the start?
Can you remember what you felt, before that feeling fell apart,
can you find it in your heart?
Have you lost my love somewhere far behind?
Or can you find it in your heart?

Pretty self-explanatory. Evidently, Fe inherited the unconditional love trait her mother carried. She ironically saw nothing but good within everyone but herself, which fueled her evil inspiration. This part of the song is Fe/Fe's mother begging Arker to stop and think -- we love you, so you don't have to worry. Please don't say your ability to love was lost when love lost you. To this day, Fe still carries some of these feelings and remorse.

~Dederick and Jacobe~

Spoiler:
Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons

This represents the twins protectiveness over each other, mostly Dederick's, by saying that even thought things are going bad, they want the other to be safe.

If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night

The two have finally found a family in the Row and they don't want to lose that again, so they would sacrifice themselves to keep everyone else safe

Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time

The two have finally found a family in the Row and they don't want to lose that again, so they would sacrifice themselves to keep everyone else safe

Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

The two have finally been introduced to the destruction that is being caused, mostly by Fe, and they want people to know that they are there if they are needed

Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame

Same as before where the two will not let anything happen to the members of the Row is they can stop it

Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out

When the twins can't do anything to save people, they feel terrible and can't stand to be around them if they can't help. This is also saying that if something really bad happens, it is very possible that they might die, and they still aren't going to leave each other. They are watching Fe kill and destroy so many lives and they know the dangers but they will still fight.

Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze

I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

So I kinda got a strange idea for Azula's mom to have a theme she sings for Azula. While some parts may not make sense, others fit perfectly.

Re: Infinity's Row: Character themes!

Post by WritingBookworm on Mon Dec 08, 2014 7:35 pm

So remember the villain theme I posted a page back? Yeah, that was one of Mordecai's theme. And now I have another one, this time with a lyrics analysis.

Spoiler:
Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries
And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries
Remember me for centuries

Mordecai's ultimate goal is to basically become immortal, in a sense, by ensuring that his name is remembered throughout all of history. And all that is required to do that is 'one mistake'--aka, activating Genesis and essentially annihilating most of N'al Ren's population.

Mummified my teenage dreams
No, it's nothing wrong with me
The kids are all wrong
The stories are off
Heavy metal broke my heart

A little bit of this section refers to his ability to convince just about everyone that he's a good guy, and that he's nothing more than a victim of the world when, in reality, he's a big-time perpetrator.

Come on, come on and let me in
The bruises on your thighs like my fingerprints
And this is for tonight
I thought that you would feel
I never meant for you to fix yourself

Most of this is referring to how he manipulated Damien Fausse--how he lied and claimed that Genesis brought peace when, in actuality, it was one of the deadliest weapons ever to have been created. Mordecai planned to use Silverbane for his own ends, with a plan that ultimately would make him out to be a hero to N'al Ren.

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries
And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries
Remember me for centuries

And I can't stop 'til the whole world knows my name
'Cause I was only born inside my dreams

A lot of this desire stems from being constantly mocked when he first joined the Row, because he really did suck at fighting when he first joined. Now he's become incredibly good with a scythe, and while he could have simply used his skills for good, he chose to hide them so he could follow a far more twisted path to what he believes will lead him to leave an even greater legacy.

Until you die for me, as long as there is a light, my shadow's over you
'Cause I am the opposite of amnesia
And you're a cherry blossom
You're about to bloom
You look so pretty, but you're gone so soon

In a weird sense, Mordecai actually respects Gentry and Elias. But ultimately, they get in the way, and therefore he will stop at nothing until he's confident that they will no longer be in his way.

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries
And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries
Remember me for centuries

We've been here forever
And here's the frozen fruit
I could scream forever
We are the poisoned youth

Mordecai absolutely hates the way he was judged for his initially subpar fighting skills, and he blames a little bit of his metal deterioration to Runite's Row's system.

Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold
But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries

Once again, the chorus reiterates Mordecai's sheer determination--even if it's a demented and insane one.

And just one mistake
Is all it will take
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries
We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries

Re: Infinity's Row: Character themes!

A second theme for Yuffie! This one is a bit more symbolic an emotional, because it's a direct connection to her and her father. So you could tell by the post on RR, they had a connection through looking at the sky, and that's a lot of what this song is about, too.

One of my favorite songs ever, though I can't listen through the whole thing without crying first. xD

lyric analysis:

I lit a fire with the love you left behind
And it burned wild and crept up the mountain side
I followed your ashes into outer space
I can't look out the window, I can't look at this place.

This part is a bit straightforward. After her father's death, a new passion struck within Yuffie -- to join the Row and save the ones she loves, because she was unable to save him. It also brushes over the fact that it's difficult for her to look at the stars, because he's not there to do it with her anymore.

I can't look at the stars
They make me wonder where you are
Stars, up on heaven's boulevard
And if I know you at all, I know you've gone too far
So I, I can't look at the stars.

Basically the same thing: Yuffie fearing to look at the sky, fearing that everything her father told her was false, and there's truly no way he can look upon her anymore.

All those times we looked up at the sky
Looking out so far, it felt like we could fly
And now I'm all alone in the dark of night
And the moon is shining, but I can't see the light.

A bit of a reference to Yuffie's flashbacks. Often, Centry and her would gaze upon the night sky together and discuss what lies beyond the naked eye. After her father's death, she felt as though the world became restricted, and that there was nothing that lay beyond.

And I can't look at the stars
They make me wonder where you are
Stars, up on heaven's boulevard
And if I know you at all, I know you've gone too far
So I, I can't look at the stars.

Stars

Stars, they make me wonder where you are
Stars, up on heaven's boulevard
And if I know you at all, I know you've gone too far
So I can't look at the stars.

Re: Infinity's Row: Character themes!

Post by WritingBookworm on Mon Jan 19, 2015 12:49 am

Since it's Elias's birthday (at least, it is in MST), I figured this would be a good day to post his solo themes. And one of them's from Naruto! Very Happy

Spoiler:
All that we love and hold so dear
Could disappear one day without warning
Or we fear if we get too close to it
We'll lose it all in a heartbeat

This illustrates Elias's prime fear--getting close to others, only to abruptly lose them in the end. He knows that death is the inevitable end, and fears what will happen to them.

Can you reminisce? Can you recall
The last time you felt some joy at all?
Or maybe you are so blessed to a point
You can't remember anything

This represents his past. To avoid having to eventually face these fears, he employed what he felt was the best logical solution--to simply disconnect himself from people, period, and to not let himself really feel anything at all toward people.

The fact we’re alive right here and now
We take it for granted but that’s how
We’ll find hope when we may need it most
When we realize the miracle

But now, he's learned that that's not the way to go about things. He realized that there's a certain joy in forging bonds that can never be found in sticking by knowledge alone. Elias knows that he can lose others, yes, and while he's still scared to death of scaring said people, he knows that that's exactly the reason he shouldn't close himself off.

All that we love and hold so dear
Could disappear one day without warning
We fear if we get too close to it
We’ll lose it all in a heartbeat

You know the closer you get to something
The tougher it is to see it
And I'll never take it for granted
Let’s go

Some people may call the kindest deed
An act of mere hypocrisy
But never mind those who have lost their faith
You shouldn't give in to what they say

Elias's stepfather played a huge role in his upbringing. He was very strict, and taught him to never wallow in self-pity, among other philosophies that Elias is grateful for. Something that Elias's stepfather was completely wrong about, however, was relationships with other people. The way Elias handled his relationships didn't just stem from his fears--they also originated from his stepfather, who drilled into him that he could never truly trust others, and that other people, in the end, were selfish, cruel, and to never expect pity from them. For a pretty long time, Elias believed him.

As a matter of fact, just hear me out
Even if it was for a selfish cause
A salvageable hypocrisy
Is superior to murderous honesty

Finally, Elias understands that this is one of the things his stepfather is dead wrong about, and it feels like, in this little part, he's telling him off. He's ditching a part of his upbringing for a belief that he knows to be more correct than his stepfather's.

Everyone tells you from time to time
To never give up like a scene from a movie
They tell you to stand up for yourself
As if was always that easy

There is a handful of courage in my heart
That is waiting to shine on my darkest day
And I'll never take it for granted
Let’s go

One of the biggest changes in him that's transpired is that, a year ago, he strictly believed that life is one misfortune on top of another, now he knows that whatever the situation may be, there will be light. You may have to fight for it, and maybe you'll have to fight extremely hard. But he sees now that it CAN be attained, and he knows that there's light within him, as well.

All that we love and hold so dear
Could disappear one day without warning
We fear if we get too close to it
We’ll lose it all in a heartbeat
You know the closer you get to something
The tougher it is to see it
And I'll never take it for granted
Let's go

At the end of the day, one of Elias's biggest qualities is his strength--strength in his intellect, strength in his combat abilities, and strength in his beliefs. He's learned to never take another's presence for granted, and treasures them like no tomorrow--even if he's not always the best at showing it to people whose name isn't Gentry. But he's working on it, so bit by bit, he's finally allowing himself to open up.

Everyone tells you from time to time
To never give up like a scene from a movie
They tell you to stand up for yourself
As if it was always that easy
There is a handful of courage in my heart
That is waiting to shine on my darkest day
And I'll never take it for granted
Let’s go

The second one, Omnis Lacrima from FFXV, is an instrumental and his battle theme, I guess. Something about it--how it was intense and fierce while maintaining an orchestral and classical feel to it--just suited his entire mentality.

OK, so after Sheath, I have one more villain in store. I won't release too much detail, but I will say that he/she plays a vital role in Aidec's past. I'll be including a lyrical and instrumental theme for this person - here's the latter:
