Forum Bug

Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:18 am by Sentinel

Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

*wipes sweat from brow* Whew, political correctness is a lot of hard work. But it has to be done.

ANYWAYS, we did it - we (almost) survived 2016 which, I think we can all agree, was pretty damn terrible in many ways.

Regardless, it was a good year on the forums - we've met some new faces, set out …

Is there something wrong?

Post by Bat on Sun Mar 30, 2014 6:02 pm

Is there something wrong with my first RPG here? I saw the other RPGs and all of them have people who joined them. Except one but that person said he/she would edit it later on or something. I just.... What is wrong with it?

Truly speaking, sometimes it's all about the environment.

I remember when I was on W101 Central, it's all about the people. You thrust your idea out their and see if anyone likes it. If they don't you move on plain and simple. If they do, then that's when franchises and such start happening. of course back in the Golden Years there were WAY more active people around and friends joined almost immediately, someone I know is a moderator and is currently my bestest friend on any site we join. I remember that I was lucky enough to be the first rpg she joined on the site. It just depends on the environment.

Here there are only 77+ members, a quarter of which check and participate in the forum. So don't take it to heart at all if you don't get any forms. Maybe people are followers and not leaders, or they don't really feel like joining. Or they just like watching RPs.

Hope that helped Smile.

The RPGs that were to my taste are dead. One I recently made a form in is Infinity's Row but I probably wont be accepted until the owner comes for some period of time. Plus, people might stop rping there already.

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but I'll try to be as nice as possible. When making an RPG, you have to know your audience and how to appeal to them. Usually the type of RPGs that do well here are magic-based/magic-related ones. Does that mean there are none without magic? No, of course not; a prime example is Virulent. However, this is not to say that nonmagic-based/nonmagic-related RPGs will work. Futuristic RPGs just tend to be confusing for the type of people who like fantasy RPGs. If it's simplified enough, a futuristic RPG could work, but a small critique for your RPG is that it's overly detailed. Try to make things simple so that people can try to understand. Also, short and sweet is usually a good rule to follow when trying to explain. If you can't explain and RPG in a simple and concise manner, it probably isn't the best idea for an RPG. A suggestion I would make is to collaborate with another member who possibly has had successful RPGs in the past. You might learn a thing or two and also be a part of founding a successful RPG. Again, I hope this doesn't sound haughty. Just trying to help Smile I wish you the best of luck.

EDIT: If a fantasy RPG just isn't your cup of tea, then I'm not sure what you can do. Sorry!  Embarassed

Thank you Sir Ace. I remember doing a collab with Neela. That went really well. Having a co creator helps tons. You can combine ideas, create scenarios, design good twists. They all work that way. Plus they're usually long lasting.

PS: The RPG i did with Neela was set in the future. On an alien planet too. It did really good.

Well there was just a lot of detail for your RPG which makes people get either scared by the amount of info or just bored because they have short attention spans xD (No but seriously, attention span is quite impor- OMG A SQUIRREL!)

I think you'll have luck with the site's staff. Try the Admins or RPG mods I would say.

Ok. I already had a co-partner. Boyhoy to help me out then it moved to Parallax. He revised it and helped me some stuff. Is it the places that is too much and/or the technology?

I like detail but..

You can dumb down exosuits to one suit and then say that exo suits can be upgraded. IDK i'm not good with dumbing things down.

That was the plan during the progression of the RPG but how do you that when you dont have it in the first place
