(It's been one year since I made a news thread, oops)

Merry Christmas/Festivus/whatever holiday you do or do not celebrate!

2017 was a pretty busy year IRL for most of us - according to forum statistics, our busiest month was in June with 1671 total posts, meaning our post rate has been a little …

Forum Bug

Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:18 am by Adrian

Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

Guide to Slang and Abbreviations

Post by Ace on Fri Jan 10, 2014 10:36 pm

Here at Creativity Center, there are many abbreviations and slang which are used on a common basis. However, these may not be widely known or easily understood, and so this guide should help you understand any unfamiliar terms you come across.

CC = Creativity Center

Admin = Administrator

Mod = Moderator

RP/RPG = Role-Play/Role-Playing Game

SGRPG = Small Group Role-Playing Game. Coined by Hero of Time.

OP = Can mean Original Post or Over Powered (which can be used with Mary/Gary Sue or godmodding).

Nab = A variation of noob. Coined by boyhoy.

gg = good game

GFX = Graphics

Shipping = Formation of a dating relationship between two characters. Sometimes, readers will use this to theorize that two characters are, should be, or will be in a relationship.

OTP = One True Pairing. Used to convey your favorite couple.

BrOTP = Similar to OTP, BrOTP is used for a pair of best friends.

Canon = Used to describe any object, person, or idea that is officially mentioned in a popular work. For example, Camp Half-Blood is canon.

Fanon = Used to describe a fan-created object, person, or idea that is used in fan fictions or RPGs. Occasionally, a majority of a fan base will accept a fanon, if it is reasonable enough. For example, Camp Odin is fanon (as of 1/19/2014).

FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions

PM = Private message

VM = Visitor message

HoT = Hero of Time

CnC = Comments and Criticisms. Used mainly for graphics and art, but can be used for stories as well.

Avi= Avatar

Siggy = Signature

Char = A shortened form of character.

The rest of this list will cover abbreviations for current "popular" RPG names, which are often used in CC. This list will be updated to include and remove RPG names.

IR = Infinity's Row

CHB = Camp Half-Blood

PVW = Perfect Virtual World

FT = Fairy Tail

HG = Hunger Games

Of course, there are many other words such as lol, omg, btw, etc. but those are likely common knowledge. If you are unsure of what something means, there are many websites devoted to slang, acronyms, abbreviations, and the like. Thanks for reading!

I think nub was already invented, but I'll have to ask boyhoy about nab.

I already made the Avi one and Neela made a guide on Character Creation. I'm not sure what you mean by form, but I have also started on the signature one.

I think he means adding those words into your slang guide. Avi=avatar, siggy=sig, etc etc.

Doh nvm, I was doing hw so my brain wasn't functioning properly. I'll add avi and siggy and chat, but I don't use form and I'm not sure what it means anyways xD. But yeah, thanks for the suggestions! If anybody has any more, feel free to suggest them.
