As the tributes stand on their podiums, the horn sounds…

Hunger Games: The CC Culling Cornucopia_by_rafarinha-d8hmnuq
"Cornucopia"

SCENE ONE: THE BLOODBATH

It was mostly running.

Whitehawk was the first to leave the podium, immediately darting off towards the wilderness. It was a smart move, though not being prepared for the dangers ahead could be a little stupid. However, Raigeki, Pegasus, and Kane also ran towards the woods in a similar fashion, in an attempt to escape the ensuing chaos.

For some reason, Wishie ran into the Cornucopia. Surprisingly she hid very well. Or, well enough to not get killed. Either, it was an effective enough strategy.

Athena snatched up a canteen of water and ran off, wondering if it would last - or if she would.

Jack grabbed a bottle of alcohol and a rag. Would make for a nice Molotov if, you know, he could actually light it.

Hime grabbed a sword, but didn’t use it just yet. Probably just as well, since it seemed most people were trying to get away from the center.

Adrian spotted a backpack with some potentially useful stuff. But just as he grabbed the strap, Writing shoved him over and attempted to scoop it up for herself. Enraged, Adrian quickly crawled back up to his knees and, after a few moments of wrestling on the ground, Adrian clutched the bag of supplies to his chest and growled at Writing. Disturbed, she retreated for the fields.

Somehow, 2b3heart scared Mythie away from the Cornucopia. It didn’t appear that she was able to get anything - she did, however, appear to be very terrified.

Michael also grabbed some Molotov supplies, not realizing that you’d actually need to light it to use it.

Lyss picked up a lighter (one that Michael or Jack could definitely use) and some rope. What she planned to do with these items, nobody was really sure. Probably not even her.

Shaybay ran away from the Cornucopia. At this point, it sounded like one of the more intelligent plans. As she ran, she heard the frustrated shouts of Ace and Cana clawing at each other for another backpack. With a black eye, Ace emerged from the fight victorious. Infuriated, Cana walked off, trying to get away from the chaos.

Ronan went the Katniss/Hawkeye route – a bow, some arrows, and a quiver. Spotting this, NightOwl gained a bright idea – and ran away from the Cornucopia, along with Paradox.

Seeing only two other people in the Cornucopia (Fix-It and Lady Sen, who decided to both grab fishing gear), Comrade Squid decided it would be a good idea to try and camp out in the middle for a while.

Unfortunately, he miscounted – Trem was still there, hiding behind the Cornucopia, and had picked up some very sharp and deadly throwing knives. Despite not having much training, Trem decided to take a rule from the ninja guidebook and launched a knife through the air. It embedded itself neatly into Squid’s head, and he fell to the ground, not moving.

The first cannon went off, and the Bloodbath had finally ended.

SCENE TWO: DAY ONE

After a couple of hours, Hime and Athena ran into each other. Within a tense few seconds, the two decided to enter a temporary truce, and went off in search of other tributes together.

Seeing that she was alone, Raigeki followed Cana for a few hours before eventually growing bored of her aimless movements.

While trying to climb down a small cliff face, Whitehawk lost footing and slid to the ground below, injuring a shoulder to an unknown degree.

Ace decided to build a shack. It looked… okay. Better than nothing?

Michael turned out to be a bit of a genius – rag inside alcohol bottle, he successfully managed to craft a working Molotov cocktail. Unfortunately, Pegasus was just nearby and, seeing the small light of a fire, picked up a rock and carefully aimed it at the bottle.

The rock sailed through the air, breaking the bottle and igniting Michael into a fireball. After a few agonizing minutes, a cannon sounded, and the hovercraft appeared to pick up a very crispy Michael.

Armed with an empty backpack, a lighter, and some rope, the trio of Adrian, 2b3heart, and Salphirix roamed the woods, looking for some poor tributes to… flay or terrify, we suppose.

Lady Sen decided to take a lone wolf route. We’ll see how well that works.

Despite having supplies with him, Jack still felt that it was necessary to run from Shaybay, who was unarmed. Sometimes, just being intimidating can work charms.

Spotting something shiny in a tree (it was a dead tracker jacker), Fix-It went up to investigate it. As she did, a dark form – Trem – darted through the nearby creek and grabbed her jar of fishing bait, fleeing once more.

Kane and Writing, both fueled by their hatred of Adrian, decided to team up together for a day and plot his downfall.

Still terrified of 2b3heart, Mythie ran into Tara and got onto her hands and knees, begging for the latter to kill her. Rolling her eyes, Tara just walked off, keeping an eye out for Ronan and leaving Mythie alone in the woods.

As Wishie foraged for some edible food, the sharp pointed end of an arrow whizzed past her head. Like a deer, she took off through the woods, looking back only once to identify her hunter. Of course. It was Ronan. In that moment, she stumbled on a small rock, and a twang of pain shot through her ankle. Undeterred, she kept running to find safety.

Hearing all of the chaos in the woods, Paradox had the idea of sleeping as much as possible to conserve energy. Wanting safety, he spotted the largest tree near him and climbed.

As he placed his right foot on one of the highest boughs, it snapped, and Paradox fell to the ground, watching helplessly as the bough fell onto him, killing him instantly. The second cannon of the day boomed, and eventually night fell, as did Paradox.

The moon shines down on the trees, as the remaining tributes seek shelter...

Hunger Games: The CC Culling 408624_art_les_noch_derevya_trava_liany_kusty_1680x1050_www.Gde-Fon.com

SCENE THREE: NIGHT ONE

Separated from Writing, Kane stumbled through the woods in a panic, hoping to find some sort of refuge for the night. He only ran into Salphirix, who was very irate and ready to kill. After some intense seconds of grappling, lashing, and missed punches, Kane found himself on the ground. But instead of a killing blow, he looked up once more to find Salphirix gone. She had spared his life. But why?

Having incidentally run into each other, and not yet having grudges against each other, Lady Sen, Raigeki, and Whitehawk decided to protect each other for the night, sleeping in shifts.

Stomach growling, and head churning, Writing climbed a tree in an attempt to stave off her hunger pangs. As she stared up at the night sky, a small balloon descended from the sky. She opened the package to find fresh food, from someone watching and rooting for her from the sidelines. She offered a silent whisper of thanks and dug in.

Cana and Tara talked about the events of that day, as well as other stories from their lives in an attempt to dispel the gloom and misery.

Every snap and whistle of the woods sent Mythie deeper into panic. Eventually she started screaming, shouting for anyone to help save her from 2b3heart. Nobody came.

Having been abandoned from her group, 2b3heart cried herself to sleep. Maybe tomorrow would be better.

Athena was having a very bad night. When she stumbled and fell off of a large fallen log, Hime ditched her and her injuries. Exhausted and still bleeding badly, she propped herself up against a tree and examined her wounds. Athena soon drifted off to sleep. She did not wake up, and the cannon boomed once again.

Adrian, along with a surprising duo – Wishie and Ronan – teamed up to sleep in shifts. Apparently, Wishie and Ronan had worked out a deal to protect each other. Adrian slept very uneasily as a result.

Not long after she left Athena behind, Hime found herself stung by a tracker jacker. As she was subjected to the venom’s effects, Jack appeared and gave her some antidote to help her system flush out the poison.

Ace saw a campfire in the distance. Concerned, and a little curious, he edged closer to figure out who the campers were, but never got a chance to find out.

It was Fix-It, of course. The night had grown cold and, not fearing any potential enemies spotting her, grew desperate enough to light a small fire. She stayed huddled around it the whole night.

Apparently as a result of his ruthless kill against Comrade Squid, Trem received a fresh package of food as well. He didn’t even offer a thank-you to the cameras watching before he voraciously filled his appetite.

Tired, bored, and ready to just hide for the rest of the game, Pegasus spotted a tree and climbed it – flicking away the dead tracker jacker before resting his eyes.

Soon, the sun dawned once more.

The sun rises again on a new day...

Hunger Games: The CC Culling Landscape-art-oil-painting-for-sale-fields-diane-jorstad

SCENE FOUR: DAY TWO

As the morning dawns, Ronan finishes the last of his wooden spear. In case his remaining arrows failed to meet their target, his pointy shaft would deliver the final blow. Don’t read that the wrong way.

Writing and Cana have decided to team up for the time being, as it becomes increasingly clear that no traps have sprung, nor events have been activated.

Kane and Pegasus have finally tracked down Adrian, who is accused of plotting to take them down. The latter is backed into the corner of a cliff, with a steep drop-off into the darkness of a ravine below. He realized his doom is about to come down upon him, when suddenly a crazy – but plausible – idea struck him.

“Hey!” He shouted, holding up his backpack. “You can kill me, but if you do, you’ll never get these med-kits and bombs.

Pegasus and Kane both glanced at each other, their eyes sparkling with greed. The two of them charged for Adrian’s backpack, which flew off into the abyss. They attempted to slow down their momentum, but as Adrian side-stepped them, they realized their mistake – the tribute pushed both of them off to their dooms below. After a few moments, two cannons boomed.

A small, white balloon descended towards Shannon, who was knelt down in a field under the fiery sun. She ripped the package open to spot a nice metal canteen full of ice water, and generously drank several gulps before setting off once more to find shade.

Hime and Lady Sen run into each other and briefly share information with each other about what they have seen, as well as potential alliances among the other tributes. Whitehawk overhears some interesting details, such as Jack’s assistance and Athena’s death, but nothing seems quite relevant yet.

As 2b3heart prowled the forest in search of her target, Mythie, she came across Jack, who was slowly drifting through the trees in search of food. She lunged at him, attempting to wrap her arms around his neck and strangle him. She missed, however, and Jack rushed through the trees even faster in an attempt to make more distance between him and her.

Despite the wildlife and the occasional scream from a distant tribute, Salphirix tried to hibernate through the sweltering day in an attempt to conserve energy.

Ace and Trem, upon realizing their potential together, attempted to hunt down some tributes for the day. So far, they have not had any luck.

Raigeki slowly and carefully walked the perimeter of the arena, looking for any useful vantage points or secret hideouts he could utilize.

As Tara explored the remains of the Cornucopia after the day-one aftermath, she uncovered a very deadly object – a sword. She examined it in the daylight. It had been completely untouched. Tara placed it in her belt, for safekeeping.

But as she turned around, she came face-to-face with Mythie, who had a crazed look in her eyes. After a few moments of hesitation, Mythie reached for the sword, before Tara jumped away. The latter pulled her weapon out, daring Mythie to try to take it again.

Either Mythie was daring or just crazy – but she did it again. With no other choice, Tara swung her sword with horrific accuracy, severing Mythie’s head clean off. Both she and her body fell to the ground with two thumps, and almost in response, the cannon boomed once again.

As the cannon boomed in the distance, Wishie knelt down in her field and scooped up a handful of flowers. She gazed at them, wondering how such beauty could be ignorant of the violence all around.

In a tree deep within the woods, Fix-It finally managed to craft a slingshot out of hardened sticks and some elastic. She put it in her pocket for future needs, and the sun slowly settled on the horizon.

Night falls once again...

Hunger Games: The CC Culling Field_night_by_nienor-d8olglj

SCENE FIVE: NIGHT TWO

Hoping to find some way out, Wishie spotted Writing in the distance and ran up to her, pleading with her to end her life quickly. But Writing refused, apparently not satisfied with such an easy kill – or, perhaps Wishie wasn’t the target she was looking for.

A large group of four (Hime, Cana, Trem, and Whitehawk) decided to spend an insomnia-ridden night telling each other scary stories around their campfire, as well as bonding with each other over the loss of some of their friends.

2b3heart started a fire. Hopefully it was meant to keep her warm, and not burn the forest down.

A small white balloon descended towards Jack once more. He opened it up to reveal fresh fruit and vegetables, fit for a long and nerve-wracking night.

As Shannon drank some of the last of her water, she came across Tara, who was cleaning her newfound sword in the river. The latter confessed to having killed Mythie, and the two of them shared a solemn moment in honoring the fallen tribute's memory.

Seeing that the stars were out, Lady Sen climbed a tree and closed her eyes, drifting off into a dreamless sleep.

After having run into each other again, Salphirix and Adrian told each other about their experiences during the Games and decided to camp with each other for the night.

Ronan and Fix-It, after finding a place to rest, discussed the tributes alive and dead, wondering about the others’ alliances – and their own.

After cooking his food, Raigeki gained the sensibility to put his fire out in order to avoid detection, and went to sleep for the night.

Ace wandered through the woods, wondering which direction north was. At least he was still in the Arena… or was he?

Hunger Games: The CC Culling Maxresdefault

SCENE SIX: DAY THREE

Tara spent the whole entire dawn watching the sun rise. Her thoughts drifted off to home, where she could still remember her freedom. Hopefully, soon, she could regain it.

Cana, Jack, Hime, and Wishie (the latter of whom had, up until now, been okay with her target) rushed into Ronan’s camp, knocking still-smoldering ashes over and taking what they could find. Wishie made off with his spear, while Cana swiped his bow and arrows, leaving Ronan defenseless and alone.

Apparently, Raigeki did not completely cook his food all the way through, and had spent the better part of his morning sick on his side. A merciful Writing came along and offered him a few antacids before continuing on her way.

Whitehawk slashed through the undergrowth of the shrubbery lining the forest, and a panicked Lady Sen ran faster, knife in hand. The pursued rushed away faster and faster, until coming face-to-face with a sheer drop-off into a ravine. Lady Sen, realizing the gravity of the situation, turned to face Whitehawk, brandishing her knife.

Together the two made a deadly dance, weapons arcing through the air and pacing around each other. After several minutes of shouts and near-misses, Whitehawk found that Lady Sen’s back was, unbeknownst to her, facing the cliff edge. With a vicious snarl, Whitehawk rushed towards her, causing her to step backwards even further until her footing slipped, and, knife flying out of her hand, Lady Sen fell head over heels to her doom.

After having broke her previous slingshot in an attempt to kill a bird, Fix-It managed to craft another slingshot, vowing not to break this one again.

Adrian, Shannon, Ace, and Salphirix slinked through the woods, trying to keep quiet as they closed in on 2b3heart’s camp. After a few moment’s silence, the four dove it, rifling through her belonging’s before she had a chance to react. Finding nothing, however, they skulked off in search of other targets.

Trem eyed the ground carefully, following any potential dampness or sign of moisture to a clean water source for his use. The day wore on until eventually, night rose again.

Hunger Games: The CC Culling 134887_spacepanda_night-forest-scene

SCENE SEVEN: NIGHT THREE

Raigeki and Ronan talk some smack about the other tributes – such as how Cana and her gang rifled through Ronan’s stuff when he wasn’t looking. The two share a well-needed laugh before retiring for the night.

Armed with only a lighter and a rope, Salphirix wasn’t sure how to take out her new target, especially without any resistance from Wishie. Then, she spotted the spear strapped to her back.

Silently, Salphirix slid the spear out and, aiming very carefully, thrust it into Wishie’s abdomen. She must have aimed well, or Wishie must have been very tired, because she did not wake up at all. The cannon boomed and the hovercraft appeared to pick up the evening’s latest kill.

2b3heart and Adrian face off against each other after a furious row over some cooked berries. It didn’t take much – all 2b3heart did was grab a tree branch and swing it at Adrian. But instead of killing him, she just took her rightfully-won berries and marched off through the forest, branch over shoulder.

Cana, strapped into the boughs of a large tree, stared up at the night sky and sang songs of loneliness and better times. Quietly, to herself, of course.

Ace had returned from the Cornucopia, a fiery blaze in his eyes. Two sharp rods of metal hung from his belts as he stomped through the woods, looking for an easy kill. To his delight, Shannon was distracted with putting out her fire.

The hunter charged ahead, taking his sais and going ham on Shannon. In the process, she somehow managed to destroy his backpack, but it unfortunately was not enough to save her life. The cannon boomed for the second time that night.

Whitehawk woke up in a cold sweat repeatedly throughout the night, reliving the events of Lady Sen’s unfortunate demise. Guilt leaves no true rest for the wicked.

Jack – either out of boredom or wondering if someone would actually give him something – started shouting at the top of his lungs.

Despite the sun being down, the forest was still hot and, struggling from pure exhaustion, Hime collapsed to the ground in an uneasy slumber.

After some negotiation, pleading, and a little bit of bribery, Writing allowed Tara to enter her shelter just for the night.

As Fix-It trudged through the forest looking for a place to spend the night, she unwittingly stepped into a trap that Trem had set earlier that day. The tribute was just nearby, knives at the ready – however, when he realized who it was, he just cut Fix-It loose and told her to buzz off. The younger tribute was only happy to oblige.

Hunger Games: The CC Culling 1532285-BDFTRTHN-7

SCENE EIGHT: DAY FOUR

Whitehawk, deciding an actual weapon would be needed in order to survive and win the Games, decided to craft herself a wooden spear. It looked suitable enough, and she set out across the woods.

Raigeki watches a single plume of smoke rise in the distance. Wondering if it was a trap, he decided not to investigate and continued foraging for food.

Trem’s dowsing turned out to be a fruitful venture, as he managed to locate a stream with a flow of clean water – or, water that looked clean enough.

Cana slipped on a rock, and as she fell, some of her arrows fell out of her quiver. Her arm landed on a few of the points, drawing a bit of blood. Cursing to herself, she pressed on.

Fix-It discovered an as-of-yet unused cave, and decided to make it her home for the time being. Hopefully nothing else had made it their home, yet.

Tara also discovered a stream, much like the one that Trem found. She took a few gulps of water, washed her face, and moved on.

Salphirix had tied a rope to the handle of her spear, hunting for tributes throughout the fields and forests of the Arena.

Ronan took a bunch of mud and sticks and tried disguising himself in the bushes. It worked… considering nobody was nearby anyways.

Despite not having had any weapons for the entire game, 2b3heart proved to be quite the resourceful killer. She had dug a hole in the ground right before a wide river, and covered the pit with branches and leaves. Quietly, she hid above in the trees and awaited her quarry.

Ace walked along, humming a tune to himself as he inspected the shredded remains of his backpack. He was so engrossed, he didn’t stop to realize the ground under him had started shifting ever so slightly until he was in complete free-fall. Quickly, 2b3heart leapt down from her tree and began pelting him with rocks. To her surprise, however, the unstable river bank caused the ground to give way, covering Ace in a rocky mudslide. The cannon boomed once again, signaling the end of Ace.

2b3heart wasn’t the only one in a trapping mood. Jack had somehow managed to rig his Molotov to light as soon as someone triggered it. And, to his pleasure, it worked like a charm.

The leaves surrounding the trap made for excellent kindling as Hime went up like a Roman candle, barreling through the woods until she fell to the ground, completely burnt out. The cannon boomed, and a hovercraft materialized to retrieve Hime.

Adrian constructed a shack. It was objectively better than the one Ace built a few nights ago.

Writing began to search for a water source. After what happened to Ace, it might be best for her to stay away from rivers.

SCENE NINE: NIGHT FOUR

After only four hours asleep, Whitehawk was awoken by a sudden pressure on her chest. Fearing the worst, she sprang up onto her feet, arms swinging. But she only saw a lone package on the ground. Opening it, Whitehawk found a hatchet, from a mysterious sponsor.

Adrian, Jack, and Tara sang a wonderful bout of happy songs about not getting killed, finding something slightly nutritious to eat, and about dreams of taking a somewhat decent shower when all of this is over.

Despite his insistence, 2b3heart chose not to mercy-kill Raigeki. Maybe her blood lust was finally over? Or maybe she just wanted to find somewhere to sleep for the night.

As Ronan trudged through the forest, jealous that he wasn’t invited to the sing-along, he stumbled upon a white package, with a note addressed to him. Opening it, he found several medical kits for his later use.

Fix-It and Trem decided it would be best to keep watch over each other for the night, taking look-out shifts.

Writing climbed a tree to rest. She would make a great squirrel.

Cana, wrought by a terrible wave of insomnia, did not sleep a single wink. She would most likely be miserable the next day. Old habits die hard.

Salphirix fell asleep face to the stars, memories of her home bouncing around in her head. Somehow, nobody managed to die this night.
