Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

Upon hearing the roar of the helicopters above them, Domhnall slowed the truck down to a stop. He craned his neck forward, trying to look up at the vehicles through the windshield, but found his glasses wouldn't stay far enough up on the bridge of his nose, and struggled to keep them in the same spot.

"I can't tell if those are ISO or not." he admitted to Kendall. "It's too dark, and they're too far away."

Annie tried to smile, but she was still visibly crying.
"Thank y-you..." she stammered out, between tears.

Re: Harwell's Institute for the Fairly Exceptional

~Vincent~

Between the Slade controversy and the mad rush to get the hell out of Dodge, I almost forgot about Valerie. I looked up from my spot behind the bushes to watch her facing off against Harbinger.

"Valerie!" I shouted, starting towards her, before a hand latched onto my shoulder to stop me. Enraged, I came face to face with Bridget.

"Wha-"

"Don't get yourself killed," Bridget whispered. "They already saved Director Waller. Didn't you hear?"

I shook my head, trying to get Bridget away from me. "It's not about the Director anymore, Bridget. Valerie's still in danger."

"She can save herself." Bridget stepped in front of me to block my path, but I teleported behind her and continued my march. She shouted my name once more in irritation. "Vincent!"

"Valerie!" I called out to Strongarm.

"Victor." His chilly voice echoed into my ears once more.

My vision turned black.

~Bridget~

Vincent slumped to the ground in front of me, unconscious.

"What the f..."

A tall, pale-skinned man with equally white hair stepped out from the shrinking shadows, walking briskly towards Continuum. The man knelt beside him, staring daggers at the back of his head.

"A damn shame," he muttered. "Between all this death, betrayal, destruction, you still try to save someone you care about. But this time, you fail."

"Wh-Who..." I stuttered, clenching my fists. If we weren't so far from the rest of the team, maybe I would have gotten physical. But he was much larger than I was. All I could do was stall.

The man looked over at me, rising once more. "It isn't a matter of who I am," he shrugged, wringing his hands. "It's a matter of what we are. And what we are," He gestured to himself and Vincent, who was still prone on the ground "Is far different than from who you all will be."

"I still don't understand."

I don't either. Bridgett's voice came out of the recesses of my mind.

You know, some help would be nice.

I'm not a superhuman like they are. I'm just another version of you. Keep stalling.

"You seem like a smart girl," the man sighed, "So I'll just keep the explanation short. Vincent is not from this world. He might have told you that."

What? "No, he didn't." Did he mean not from this planet?

No, he doesn't strike me as alien. Which means "world" has only one other connotation here.

I rubbed my forehead. "He's... he's not from this reality. This timeline. Is that what you mean?"

That would explain why you can't lock onto his probabilistic variations. Since he's not from this timeline, his future is a little more... confused.

"His universe was destroyed, like mine was." The man shifted his feet. "I assume the cataclysm that annihilated his world is the same one that broke mine and sent the both of us here. But it doesn't matter, because I now seek to right that wrong. And Subject Victor here is going to help us with our mission. Whether he wants to or not."

"No," I growled, taking a step forward. Whether he was lying or not, there was no way this man was about to take Continuum against his will. "Vincent is not going with you. Empathy! Valerie!" I started shouting at the top of my lungs, trying to get anyone's attention.

"Sorry, dear," the man muttered. "But I can't have you getting in our way either." Without warning, the man vanished - and when I turned to try and grab Vincent, I realized he was already gone as well.

- Kendall -

I'd seen ISO vehicles all too much during my tenure at their compound, so I hope I recognize it as I look up into the sky. "I . . . think so? You're right, it's hard to tell."

- Valerie -

"Empathy! Valerie!"

I look up and away from Harbinger for a moment. Bridget? Where is she? She sounded like she was in trouble.

"Lambda!" I call, running toward where I heard her voice before Harbinger suddenly appears in front of me, and, with a burst of super strength, shoves -- it feels more like a throw than a push -- me into the trees.

The slow, signature thudding of Slade's footsteps echoed closer as the silhouette of the huge monster became more and more visible through the dark tree line.
Sounds like the students are having trouble... I've got to find Harbinger, let him know what happened. He'll know what to do.

Gretchen didn't move Annie, but felt the need to ask: "Are you hurt?"

~~~~~~~
"I'd say 'let's go see,' but I already put enough people in danger today."
Annie shook her head slightly, still sniffling and not wanting to let go of Gretchen's warmth.
"The medics already healed me."
Gretchen nodded, even if Annie couldn't see.
"Just making sure."
- Valerie -
I seethe through my teeth as I get up to my feet, my back actually . . . aching. I feel hurt. When's the last time I've felt hurt.
A boom shakes the ground. Was that Slade?
Knocking over a tree behind Valerie with another thud, the monstrous form of Daikaiju crept out of the shadows to her rear, with as much stealth as a creature his side could muster. His wiry tail slithered behind him as he came into full view, and raised an enormous claw in the air, preparing to bring it down upon the blonde's head.
I wish I didn't have to do this.
But I do.
