Merry Christmas/Festivus/whatever holiday you do or do not celebrate!

2017 was a pretty busy year IRL for most of us - according to forum statistics, our busiest month was in June with 1671 total posts, meaning our post rate has been a little …

Forum Bug

Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:18 am by Adrian

Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

~ Loretta ~
At first, Loretta thought that the noise coming from the other side of the door must have been her cries echoing off the wall. But she quickly realized there was someone on the other side, crying as well. She froze. Loretta knew it had to be Sophia, but... but why? Is it my fault? Did I make her sad?

She brought herself to the faucet and propped her body, which felt extraordinarily heavy, up on her elbows. She turned on the cold water and splashed it over her face until she began to numb, then used a towel to pat the water and any makeup residue off her skin. Loretta caught herself staring in the mirror for a few seconds; there was a slight frown still remaining. She stepped away and creaked the door open.

"Sophia?"

~Riada~

"Oh yeah, totally. He sounds like a great guy from the way you talk about him, even if it sounds like he gets on your nerves sometimes," I said with a teasing grin.

~Adair~

I almost leaned back in when he pulled away, having been so lost in the feeling, but stopped myself. With a small smile I ducked my head, feeling my cheeks flush again as I nodded, "You're probably right."

I moved back slightly and saw where our hands were still connected. I looked up at him in silent question, not sure how to proceed now when we left the bathroom.

Slade looked like he was going to explode for a brief moment, fidgeting awkwardly before answering her question.
"...No."

Suddenly, he placed his hands on Gretchen's shoulders and took her aside, where they'd be facing away from Lucille. His hands were shaking and his breaths were short and quick. "Listen to me..." He began, obviously pained, "...I'm leaving tonight. And I'm not coming back, okay? I've got no control over this. We may not see each other again for a long time, maybe not ever! I..."
He stopped, several tears beginning to stream down his cheek. He brought his face closer to hers.
"Do you remember... the promise you made to me after the gauntlet?"

---

Sophia looked up, surprised to see Loretta. She tried to smile, but it was obvious she'd been crying.
"Oh hi Loretta!" She said, sniffling. "W-what happened?"

~ Loretta ~
She joined Sophia on the floor, tucking her knees into her chest. "Hi... oh, uh, a lot happened." Right now, though, she was more concerned about her friend who had been crying. Loretta turned to face her.

"Are you okay? Why were you crying?"

"Get ready to have a third parent." Lachtna scoffed, but was still grinning.

~~~~~~~
Fiachra pursed his lips, thinking over his choices. It was probably a little soon to be skipping hand-in-hand with his new boyfriend in the halls after just breaking up with Annie, what, 10 minutes ago?
"Hey, um, I know you probably don't want to hear this but, uh, do you think we can kinda..play it cool for now? I mean, I'm sure Annie isn't taking this as well as she pretends she is..."
~~~~~~~

Gretchen's whole body froze. Her heart, her lungs, her brain, all of it, stopped. She was panicing, watching Slade fall apart right in front of her, and she didn't know what to do. She had no idea what was happening.

"Slade.." she started carefully, trying not to show how panicked she was, "you know whatever is going on, you can tell me, right?"

Slade's eyes were wide. Every inch of his body also shook with panic and fear.
"Do you remember??!" He almost shouted, shaking her slightly. "Tell me, Gretchen!"

---

Sophia wiped one of her eyes, still sniffling.
"It's... it's all my fault, isn't it? C-c-cuz I told you guys to kiss..."
He started to cry a little bit more, hugging her knees even closer.

"Well- yes!" Gretchen admitted, loosing most of her control, "Now tell me what the hell is going on!"

"What?" She said, "No, it's not your fault! Don't blame yourself... It's- it's complicated, but nothing that happened tonight was your fault."

"I wish I could."
Slade wrapped his arms around Gretchen, bringing her into a hug.
"I love you. Please don't ever forget that."

---

"It isn't?" Sophia looked puzzled, but hopeful. "How is it not??"

"Because..." She looked to the ceiling, "Because it's my fault, not yours. That's all!" Good recovery. Loretta stood up, "Eugh, I feel gross! I think i'm going to take a shower."
