(It's been one year since I made a news thread, oops)

Merry Christmas/Festivus/whatever holiday you do or do not celebrate!

2017 was a pretty busy year IRL for most of us - according to forum statistics, our busiest month was in June with 1671 total posts, meaning our post rate has been a little …

Forum Bug

Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

"It's okay!" I say.

"I'm so excited!"

I nod and start dragging my things to the back.

"I'm always careful." Annie replied matter-of-factly.

Slade decided to change the subject.
"So... are you all excited? I know I am!"

---

"Me too!" Sophia was enthusiastic.
"Psst..." She said in a quieter voice while nudging Loretta's arm, as if trying to hide something. "Want a mint?"

Gretchen shrugged, feeling her backpack shift as she did so. "I guess."

- Lucille -

"Oh, I should hope you're all excited."

The voice is one I haven't heard since yesterday's lessons. Coming up is none other than the Martial, her brown hair tied back into a practical ponytail.

I shrink back from her. It's because of her that I wish I'd been placed into Delta instead of Gamma. She's not malicious, I don't think, but . . . the training she makes her students undergo is training straight from Hell. It made my muscles ache in places I hadn't even known existed, and made me so sore that I had to skip a few classes the next morning. She made me, a trained assassin, skip class.

"Hmm." She surveys the students. "Yup, most of you are here. All right, get inside. Luggage goes to the back."

Gretchen's brows furrowed at the woman's tone, further at Lucille's response, even as she followed her directions.

Easy for you to say, she thought, you do this for fun.

Alex-

I arrive at South Field and walk up to the helicopter sitting there, my bag slung over my sholder. Glancing around the helicopter, I notice the bags at the back and drop mine there too, hoping I was right about it. I then head over to Empathy, to make sure he knows I'm here.

"Empathy, sir" I say with a nod, standing in front of him.

Sarah-

I step onto the helicopter that would take us to New York quietly, throwing my bag in the back, and rushing to an empty seat, hoping desperately that this flight would pass quickly and quietly.

Ethan-

I step onto the helicopter, a grin across my face as I step into the helicopter to Albany. Even if it was very dangerous, it would be a great experience to actually try out my powers in the field, and also hopefully be useful for once.

Annie gulped upon hearing the Martial's voice. She took a step back when faced with her imposing frame.
Her training couldn't be described as "cruel" but it was extremely harsh. The past week, Annie had been tested to her very limits in almost every single one of her classes, each one barely leaving her with the strength to go on.
Silently, she followed Gretchen, taking a seat across from her on the plane and setting her backpack in the back.

Slade did not cower or step back- on the contrary, he stood rigid, firm, and tall, not wanting to appear weak to the Martial.
The Martial was not his instructor, but she was his squad leader at the moment, and Gretchen's too. He got the feeling that she would try and test them during the mission, to challenge their strength... he was determined to impress; if not for his own sake, then for Gretchen's.
"Yes ma'am." He replied in an attentive tone as he picked up his suitcase and followed her instructions.

---

Sophia held a finger up to her lips.
"Shhh..."
She opened her mouth wide, placed her hand over it and quickly regurgitated something small into her palm. She lowered her hand, revealing it to be a small, wrapped mint, the complimentary kind you might see at front desks, and held it to Loretta.
"And if anybody asks, you didn't get it from me." She said with a wink.

I take the mint and stare at it, "Thanks!" I discreetly shove it into my pocket with a smile.

"I'll, uh, save it for later!" I felt kinda bad... but I don't really want to eat a mint that came out of her stomach, honestly, so i'll just give it to someone else when the time comes.

Sophia dropped the half-whisper.
"Alright!! If you ever want another, I have plenty... I found a whole bull full of them at somebody's desk, dumped the whole thing in my mouth when nobody was looking." She said with a hint of pride.
After a few moments of silence, she peered out the door, seeing Kendall speaking to the squad leader but unable to make out what they were saying.
"I wonder what he's talking to Kendall about..."
