Forum Bug

Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:18 am by Sentinel

Hi all,

We're aware of a peculiar forum glitch that's causing some subforums to be locked.

Due to the lateness at this time, it might be a while before the glitch can be remedied, because despite my best efforts and as far as I can tell, everything seems to be working fine admin-side. It may have …

Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Other religious holidays!

*wipes sweat from brow* Whew, political correctness is a lot of hard work. But it has to be done.

ANYWAYS, we did it - we (almost) survived 2016 which, I think we can all agree, was pretty damn terrible in many ways.

Regardless, it was a good year on the forums - we've met some new faces, set out …

Gretchen turned and studied the building, as if worrying she would forget it. "Uh, yes ma'am. I'll come right back, I promise! Alright, Sla- oh, uh," she tried to quickly weigh her options, "ok, sure, thanks, Annie. Let's go."

Annie lifted up Slade's other arm and rested it on her shoulder, allowing her and Gretchen to share the load.
"Let's get you back quickly."
She started move forward, Slade lightly stepping to keep up and keep from dragging behind.

Slade was already mentally chiding himself.
"I feel like a piece of crap," he thought aloud. "The mission's just started and I'm already out of commission. Worse, I've become a complete burden and liability, and being forced to drag you two down. I'm so sorry."

"Slade, dearest," his cousin began, going at Annie's pace, and trying to remove some of the frustration in her tone and replace it with something sweeter, "worrying about that will make this trip harder. Keep positive thoughts until you get to the medics, ok?"

- Maxwell -

Slade, Gretchen, and Annie become bigger and more visible as they approach the hotel. I close my laptop for the time being -- I haven't been able to break back into the security cameras, anyways -- and start wheeling to the elevator.

"Would one of you ladies be willing to open the door for Slade and I?" I ask as they come in, proffering my key card to whoever will take it. "Slade's injured, and I can't reach it."

- Kendall -

"Now that would be a nice thought," I muse.

Except the nice thought's quickly shattered by Nightwatcher. "Unless your performance is pretty damn stellar, I doubt a simple mission like this is enough to get you up a rank. Most students begin to climb up the ranks after a semester of classes. That's when the noticeable improvements are shown."

"I gotcha."

Gretchen leaned forward, reaching for the card but trying to keep her half of Slade's weight from shifting to Annie.

Slade nodded in response to Gretchen, though he didn't look reassured.

Annie stepped a bit closer so Gretchen could take the card, carefully keeping Slade balanced.
"Will you be able to take care of him once we're gone?" She asked Maxwell with concern.

"I don't need to be taken care of," Slade interjected. "Sentinel needs to focus on the mission."

---

Sophia's expression became indignant.
"That's rotten! The first test of the year alone is enough to push you up but field performance counts for less than that?"

"Someone needs to make sure you don't try to escape out the window." Gretchen grumbled, waiting for the elevator doors to open again.

"You really think I could climb out a window in this condition?" Slade replied almost disparagingly.

Annie was starting to get fed up. She was sick and tired of listening to their remarks.
"Can you two can it until we complete the mission?!" She growled at them in an angry voice that surprised even her.
An expression of shock crept across her face.
Did I actually say that out loud?

Slade looked over at her with surprise, but he was silent.

"I think you would tr-"

"Can you two can it until we complete the mission?!"

Gretchen looked at Annie with shock that mirrored her cousin's. In the dark recesses of her brain, a rude comment was forming, for she hadn't completely cooled down from Slade's stupidity yet.

Oh, wow, a part of her desire to spat, didn't know you could feel anger.

Hearing the elevator's doors open, Gretchen let a puff of air out of her nose to relieve some frustration:

"Actually, Annie, thank you for the help but I got it from here." she stepped into the elevator itself, taking Slade off of the third teen fully, "Besides, the rest of the team needs you as soon as possible and that's a 10, 11 block run. You should probably get a head start. Coming, Sentinel?"
