Irongale [APPS THREAD!]

Albion is one of the five Grand Keeps in the land of Noroin (no-rowin). Though the smallest in size, it always excelled in grandeur, beauty, and diversity… Until recently.

The plethora of races thriving in the kingdom of Albion have always remained in their respective lands, as decreed by the earliest royal branch. There are extremely strict laws, enforced by the powerful Albirians, prohibiting the mingling of different heritages.

Though once a thriving land, living conditions in Albion have been decreasing gradually - magic is weaker, the water is dirtied, plants shrivel to grey matter, and all lifespans shortened - and no one seems to understand why.

It has been long fabled that a great presence will one day present an opportunity to restore longevity and health to the withering kingdom.

But for now, the inhabitants of Albion must brave the hardships ahead…






IRONGALE


A grand but ferocious 500 year old wizard called Ivelore, who is known to all as the fearsome warlock who slayed the last living dragon, turns the king of Albion to iron and assumes the throne. He tells the three royal children that he is dying and cannot venture out on his own to seek ingredients to an elixir that will ensure his immortality. If he is able to restore his longevity, he will return the king to his normal state and make Albion prosperous again.

Since Albirians alone are not strong enough to brave the unknown, the three must seek out certain companions to join them in their journey. They must leave their own land and search the four other Grand Keeps for what they need. This group of adventurers is to be dubbed Irongale, a fearless and diverse guild who is responsible for the fate of their land.

Unfortunately, time is of the essence.

If Ivelore dies, the kingdom of Albion and all who live there will too fade away.
   



THE KINGDOM OF ALBION


RED  – “Foolshold” – though not the largest town in the land, Foolshold still holds the title as Albion’s capital. This is where famous festivals are held. The residents here are typically shop owners and live at the middle-class status. (Foolshold also expands to the chunk of land south of the red dot.)

ORANGE – “Oporian Field” (oh-poor-ee-uhn) – this is the main agriculture location in the land. Those who run ranches and farms inhabit this wide-open space and live conveniently close to Foolshold in order to more effectively transport their goods.

GREEN – “Hirane” (hee-rah-nay) – this is a hilly mass of land characterized by its famous windmill. Nothing very special is located here, but it has the highest population in Albion due to its comfortable climates year-round and spacious stretch.

BLUE – “Kuoppa Forest” (coo-oh-puh) – as in the title, this land is most notorious for the amount of trees within it. Also located here is a civilization known as Kuoppa Village, which is mainly, if not all populated with the Okiri, the Albirian equivalent to elves. It is connected to the mainland by the famous Gandor Bridge.

TEAL – “Folkholm’s Keep” – this is a very mountainous piece of land where most of the nation’s mining and jewel profit comes from. Small towns are located here and are populated by blacksmiths, miners, and dragon trainers/hunters. (This is also a very dragon-heavy area.)

PINK – “Fortaare” (fort-ah-ray) – famously, this is where the exiled mixed-races live. They’re all located safely behind the base of Ecrin’s Height, the mountain on which the castle sits.

PURPLE – “Fallskirk” – this is the main water-based land in all of Albion, said to be one of the most beautiful sights in existence. The Foulscrest River runs right through the middle, making it an extremely popular fishing/aquatic animal study spot.

BLACK – “Armani Desert” – said to be one of the most cultured areas in the land, the Armani Desert is home to a wide population of the Heijiki race. This is the music, food, and dance capital of Albion.




THE RACES
The races in Albiron are constricted to certain areas of the kingdom. The color below the description of the different races will tell where they reside and why.

Albirian – the equivalent to a human. Albirians make up most of the population and have no special physical attributes.
Red; Albirians don't technically limit themselves, because they are seen as the most powerful race in the kingdom. However, most tend to reside here.

Zifia - the Zifians encompass all variations of halflings born in the land. Whenever the races would “mingle,” they and their offspring would be sent together in a type of exile. They are a very diverse group and have very differing powers depending on the race of their parents.
Pink; they were sent behind the mountains of the Albirian walls so they would be close enough to keep an eye on but far away enough to not be seen.

Okiri – the equivalent to an elf. They are characterized by pointy ears and typically have oddly-colored features, such as their hair or eyes.  
Blue; they tend to keep to themselves in the forest ever since they were sent there.

Laif – Laifs are characterized by darker skin and red (or a color of the red variety) hair. They are typically stronger and better thieves than the average Albirian.
Orange; their darker skin comes from their time working in the fields and many steal from the Albirians to keep their families sustained.

Furian- The animal/human hybrids. This race has a mixture of different animal and human qualities that can differ a lot. Powers can also range but are mostly fixed on controlling animalistic powers.
Green; the Furians found it most comfortable to live in the grassy plains and hills.


Noria – this is a race that is similar to a mermaid/merman, but they have legs at all times. They are characterized by extremely pale blue skin and black (or any dark color) of hair. They are able to breathe underwater and communicate with spirits of water.  
Purple; they swim between the kingdoms but are kept off of the land that is not in their territory. They have small villages on the land that look deserted to throw people off but under the water they have large inhabited areas.

Kianhi - a golem-like race with thick skin and immense strength. Their tough exterior allows this particular race to survive in the cold mountains.
Teal; their appearance makes it easy for them to survive in the mountains.

Heijiki – known as the race of the shadows, the Heijiki have identical attributes to the Albirians, but are less superior. They have a small population and typically work for the royal family. The Heijiki, by nature, are more inclined to be skilled at necromancy.
Black; they have been sent to exile for preforming dark magic, which tends to scare the Albirians and Okiris, although the other races do not seem to mind.





CHARACTER CLASSES
In your character form, you will be asked to choose a primary and a secondary ability. No, this does not limit the attributes your character may gain as the RPG progresses, but this helps refine the foundation. Choose carefully!

GUIDELINE

Pick either WITCHCRAFT or WARRIOR
Then pick either THIEF or EXPLORER
After that, choose one secondary ability in each selected category.

IF YOU CHOSE WITCHCRAFT

Elemental magic – the ability to use earth, wind, water, and fire at your command

Necromancy – manipulate minds, the dead, and shadows; also connect with spirits of those who passed

Voodoo – manipulate thoughts/feelings of the living around you; also able to “sense” the future (when experienced enough)

Abjuration – heal/protect any weak entity spiritually or physically

Conjuration – the ability to transform yourself or other things

Alchemy – the power to utilize science into magic ability


IF YOU CHOSE WARRIOR

Swordsman – extremely talented in the art of sword fighting

Archer – knowledgeable with a bow and arrow

Protector – excellent with a shield and highly inclined to put the lives of others before your own

Axe Wielder – extremely talented in the art of axe fighting

Captain – refined leadership/strategic skills


IF YOU CHOSE THIEF

Bandit – travels in a group and violently takes what is required or desired

Rogue – steals in order to stay alive

Scoundrel – steals for the fun of stealing/to cause mayhem


IF YOU CHOSE EXPLORER

Listless – recklessly wandering in desperate hopes to see all you can before you die

Beast Master – a natural ability to get along with animals of any kind

Gold Digger – after money, either for yourself or for someone else

Herbologist – wishing to discover plants in order to create medicine or simply expand the beauty of nature

Musician – natural inclination to the art of music and sound, either instrumental, voice, or body  

Artist – natural inclination in the right side of the brain – skilled with paints, colors, and envisioning a more beautiful world

Blacksmith – talented in the miners/weapon-making field

Fisher – simply interested in the world of water, whether it has to do with fish or not.

Romanticist – in search for love or simply companionship

Scholar  – wishing to discover more stories of Albirion, whether it be within pages or through your own eyes

Adventurist – seeking the thrill of life, wishing to be engaged in battles and narrow escapes and everything fearsome that you can imagine




THE ROYAL FAMILY
For about a century, the Forevigor family has been in power. Though ultimately well-liked amongst the inhabitants of Albion, there is often animosity towards their racist and unforgiving ancestors. The current king, Miel Forevigor, is relatively benevolent, though strict. The queen passed away at the birth of the youngest Forevigor child.

The Forevigor children will be played by Shaybay, Ronan, and Hime.

Sub-royal characters, such as powerful dukes & duchesses, are completely allowed. PM Shaybay or Hime with any further questions!

-He uses this to enhance feelings of love or lust. As a rule he never uses his powers if there are no    prior feelings in order to get someone into bed, he isn't that kind of guy. In fights he can also heighten feelings of fear or anger to get an upper hand.
Secondary ability for 2: Listless

Personality: Flirty as hell. He grew up somewhat in the spotlight but since he was the middle child he usually received less attention. Because of this he usually uses his title and powers (though never on unwilling people) to spend the night with nobles for a little fun. Despite this playboy attitude, though, he can be very tender and loving to those he really cares about, especially his family. When he gets close to you he's very clingy and craves affection that he will return gladly. He's a bit of a scaredy cat but if he has support he is willing to take on any challenge.
Biography: Pippin was always a very bright and optimistic child. Even with their mother dead and their father's negligence he would always try and keep his twin and sister happy. As he grew up this lack of any attention flared as well and morphed into his lustful demeanor. It was never a shock to see young nobles slipping out of his bedroom in the morning, looking completely disheveled. He also has a habit of pulling small pranks and getting into trouble in order to gain attention, especially any from his father. When Briony was abducted and his father grew so strict and angry it scared him. He went in one night and tried to convince his father to stop what he was doing and go back to the way things were when their mother was alive but that only resulted in him being punished. He grew colder to his father but even more loving towards his siblings, wanting desperately to get them away and protect them from such a horrible life but not knowing how yet.

> Specifically, Briony can transform herself and others into black gales, a powerful and majestic bird native to Noroin. Aside from this, she can transform into a few other creatures: A black panther, a black mamba snake, and a black stallion. The black gale is the only animal that she can change companions into.

Secondary ability for 2: Adventurist

Personality: Briony, in short, is a little difficult to get along with. She’s hot-headed, quick tempered, impulsive, and easily aggravated. The young princess often puts forth this tough front as a type of self defense; she feels as though she cannot allow herself to be vulnerable or an easy target. With her older brothers, she is much happier and open, though she still feels the need to be hardened at certain times. Briony is also adventurous, free-spirited, and stubborn, always choosing to learn from mistakes rather than be cautious. Occasionally, she will come off as self-interested or selfish, but will be extremely loyal to those who she trusts and loves, especially her brothers.

Biography: Shortly after Briony was born, her mother passed away due to complications. Although guilt loomed over her growing up, her father nor her brothers put any blame on her. Still, however, she felt disregarded and coldly treated by the king, making her feel insecure and insignificant to her family. She took solace in getting herself into trouble by doing a number of dangerous things, such as sneaking out of the castle and seeking out thrills. One day, when she was about 15, Briony was abducted by bandit Liefs just outside of Foolshold and nearly killed. Thankfully, her father got her back, but grew overprotective and strict over his youngest. Briony, from then on, was not allowed to leave the castle unless she was under absolute supervision.

>Kiel is able to manipute minds, the dead, and shadows around him. He is most proficient at manipulating shadows, being able to mold and shape them into various forms. He is also skilled in manipulating minds and controlling the dead, even finding it possible to communicate with them if he desires.

Secondary ability for 2: Beast Master
>He is able to understand and communicate with animals, to an extent. This skill is not as refined so he often misunderstands the animals he is trying to interact with.

Personality: Edgy as hell. He is very sarcastic and can come off a bit harsh, which causes him to often prefer spending time alone as opposed to others. He hates large crowds as they tend to bring out his snide and almost rude side. He is very critical of others and if they do not live up to his standard, he is very hard on them. However, his sarcastic and dry personality serves as sort of a defense mechanism for him. Under his layers of hard exterior lies a kind and friendly individual. This can most often be seen when he is with his siblings. Around his family, he is much more personable and his caring and compassionate side comes out in full force. He puts others before himself and has a strong sense of loyalty. He is especially close with his twin brother who he shares a strong connection with.
Biography: Kiel was a fairly bright and cheerful child, until he learned of his mother's death. It was then that he started becoming more closed off from others, especially his father who was growing more strict and uncaring toward his children. Kiel even closed himself off from his siblings for a time, locking himself away from the world. Once his necromancer powers developed, he was able to contact his mother, who told him to stay close to his siblings and to not let this incident control his life. So with that knowledge, Kiel focused building his relationship with his siblings, growing closer with them. Kiel also relayed a message from his mother to his father, though his father refused to listen. It was at that point that Kiel almost completely gave up on his father. When Briony was kidnapped, he became frantic with worry, doing all he can to help bring her back. With her safe, he becmae more at ease though he was more determined than ever to keep his siblings safe by any cost.

Other: He has a pet wolf familiar named Merona that follows him around and that he can communicate with easily.

Hey! I'm not sure if I'll join yet or not, but I do have a few questions... c:

1. Does the public know that the king has turned to stone and the wizard is ruling? Or is it being kept hush hush?

2. Since the different races are being forced to live in certain cities/territories, are they allowed to visit other cities and travel about? How does all that work exactly?

3. The Heijiki were exiled for performing dark magic, so is necromancy dark magic? Or is dark magic something else?

1. The people wouldn't know right away. I think the word would get out after the three children begin to travel around and try to find worthy companions.

2. Different races are allowed to travel about, but there are very specific and strict laws, such as tough border control and passport-esque documents that are very hard for non Albirians to obtain. These strict laws will likely fizzle out once the king gets turned to iron, however, since the kingdom will inevitably lose order and structure.

3. Necromancy is "legal" magic, meaning that it is not typically used with malicious or illegal intent. Dark magic was created by the Heijiki, possibly the most discriminated race, to try and destroy the Albirian population. Dark magic, in a sense, is much like the forbidden spells in Harry Potter, where there is no moral use.

Here's the first of my Chaotic Neutral siblings.


Character Name: Karra Aldaine

Age: 18

Race: Heijinki

Appearance:



Height: 5'7"

Primary ability 1 (witchcraft/warrior): Warrior
Primary ability 2 (thief/explorer): Thief

Secondary ability for 1: Swordswoman, though she uses daggers slightly more often than their longer counterparts.
Secondary ability for 2: Scoundrel. She's slightly different from her brother in that she wants vengeance on Albirians for doing what they did to her and her family, so she intends on screwing over as many of those low-lives as possible.

Personality: Hoo boy. Karra's a flirt. And a thief. She uses flirting to advance her thievery. She can be a freaking devious little piece of work, and will shamelessly lie, cheat, steal, and sometimes kill to get what she wants. She harbors a crap-ton of hatred for Albirions, and that dictates a lot of her personality.

Biography: Karra was born second to her older brother, Alric, their family rounded out by a father who left them before Karra was born. For the first few years of their lives, they served the royal family . . . until word got out that her mother, a Heijinki, had been having an affair with a powerful duke.

The duke, to save face, was quick to claim that their mother had been bewitching him with dark magic, and it was all her fault. Lilla and her family were exiled from Albion, and sent to live in the Armani Desert with the rest of the Heijinki.

None of them ever made it there.

Lilla fell ill shortly before her banishment. She and her kids thought it was fine, but as they journeyed to the Armani Desert, she grew worse and worse. It got to the point where Lilla, her face pale and clammy, could no longer get up out of bed and travel. Alric and Karra desperately tried to get help, but they could find none. They tried tending to their mother by themselves, but it wasn't enough. Lilla passed away in the middle of the night.

Karra was inconsolable. Alric did his best to help her, and support her until they made it to the Armani Desert, but Karra was too despondent. Why had this happened to them? she thought. Why did her mother die? Eventually, Karra came to a conclusion.

Lilla Aldaine had died because they had been banished. Because no one would help them.

She had died because of Albirians.

To keep herself moving forward, Karra turned her grief into rage. She refused to make the rest of the journey to the Armani Desert, because that would be playing by the Albirians' rules. And that was something she would not do. Not wanting to abandon the only family he had left, Alric joined her into sneaking across the border again, and making their way into Foolshold.

They initated chaos from then on. They haven't made it fall to anarchy, but they began stealing on the streets. Karra flirted with unwitting men before robbing them blind, and Alric used his dark magic. His knowledge of such arts is extremely limited, coming from a few scraps of paper their father left behind before he left them. But he didn't have to go beyond that knowledge -- he used Albirions' fear of Heijinki and dark magic as a weapon in and of itself, by scaring others into giving up their money.

Years have passed since they first started. They've gotten pretty good at their routine, and safe to say, Alric's pretty satisfied with where they're at now. Karra's . . . not.

Land in which your character lives: The Aldaine siblings move from place to place, but Karra insists on concentrating their efforts on Foolshold, since that's where most Albirions live. So that's where they'll be when the RPG starts.

Family?: Lilla Aldaine (mother, deceased), Ardon Aldaine (father, ???), Alric Aldaine (older brother, alive)
